Inquiry Learning – Journeys Through the Thinking Processes

Description: A one-day workshop, facilitated by Kath Murdoch, focused on an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning within a PYP classroom. As well, teachers were introduced to strategies to help deepen students’ understanding, drawing on several ways of investigating and expressing growing understandings.

Description: An in-school, two-day workshop, Category 2 – Assessment, facilitated by Karin Sveilis, which was designed to introduce teachers to the PYP assessment philosophy and strategies within the classroom. Additionally, the workshop helped develop a deeper understanding of assessment and teacher strategies within a PYP classroom.

Description: A two-day workshop, facilitated by Sophia Jorstad and Mary Kay Polly, which focused on the philosophy of maths education within the PYP framework. Additionally, workshop helped develop a deeper understanding of maths curriculum and teacher strategies within a PYP classroom.

Co-presented on how-to integrate technology into the classroom. I presented using Twitter as a tool to teach sentence fluency and how blogs can increase student engagement in writing.

Presented and lead a 45 minute discussion defining digital citizenship, keeping students safe online, grade level appropriateness, parental involvement, and how different school are handling this subject.

Advantages of Social Networks for Professionals
Presented and lead a 45 minute discussion on the benefits of staying connected focusing on the benefits of the professional development component of social media for educators.
